Summary

This program helps men and women increase their understanding of Scripture, develop practical skills for various church leadership roles, prepare for professional Christian ministry, and/or pursue graduate studies in the field.  Students come to AST to deepen their theological roots, strengthen their relationship with the Lord, and develop their ministry gifts.

Program Requirements

The Bachelor of Science is ideal for students who are currently working or plan to work in a ministerial role.  To fulfill the Bachelor of Science degree, students must complete a total of 40 courses (120 units) in the following categories:

  1. Foundational Requirement:  This is a course that prepares students for the degree programs by studying skills necessary for academic success and Christian stewardship.
  2. General Education Core:  The G.E. Core consists of 43 units of study that provides students with a broad-based foundation in the Liberal Arts.  Students must complete coursework in seven subject areas. 
  3. Major Courses:  The Christian Ministry Major guides students, step-by-step, toward higher levels of knowledge and skill, devotion and service.  The major courses are completed in a sequence through a cohort system in which students progress through a series of required courses with the same group of classmates. 
  4. General Electives:  These courses may be taken from any field and can be upper division or lower division.  A student must complete a total of nine electives (five of which are considered to be at the A.A. level and four of which are considered to be at the B.S. level).
